Adel Conservation Area

The Adel Conservation area, which covers the area surrounding St John’s Church, looks set for a major extension following a review carried out by the Council’s development department.  The present Conservation Area, comprises a number of Adel’s older buildings including the listed church itself, the Old Rectory, The Parish Hall and York Gate, together with its famous garden createdby the Spencer family.

Under the proposals, the Conservation Area will be extended southwards to include many of the older buildings on the east side of Church Lane like the old Adel School, Church Lane Lodge and Causeway House off Long Causeway.
