Some of you may have heard that there are plans to close our local doctor's surgery and pharmacy. Obviously, we are very concerned about this as it means losing a very important part of our community, which has been here for many years. To lose this now would mean that all patients registered here would have to travel all the way to Alwoodley or seek an alternative surgery elsewhere in Leeds. At an Adel Association meeting last week it also became very clear that even people who were not patients to the surgery made regular use of the pharmacy. If the surgery disappears almost certainly there would not be sufficient business to maintain a pharmacy. Again this would mean difficult travel arrangements to get to the next closest pharmacy at Holt Park.
We need to convince NHS Leeds that the majority of Adel citizens strongly object to losing the only health facility that we have in our community. This will be particularly devastating for the elderly and vulnerable in our area so we are calling for this to be stopped now before it's too late. Adel Association and the Adel Crag Association have combined their resources to get people to sign petitions to this effect over the next 2 months. You may well find someone calling at your door but our best and quickest way of gathering petition signatures will be if you visit the following stores who all have copies. Please ensure that you do not sign more than once. It is also possible to use your email address instead of your actual address. You must of course be an Adel resident.
