Have just enjoyed reading some of the history about Adel. I lived in Smithy Cottage from 1939 until 1954 when I emigrated to New Zealand.

During those years I attended Adel C of E school and Adel Church with rectors Poslewhaite and Simpson and played cricket both for the Adel Club and Eccup with Joe Chapman and his son Sidney, as mentioned in your records.

I also spent lots of time working for a Mr Sam Baxter in my school holdays on the farm you now call York Farm

I have lots of very happy memories of those days
