The Project has been on hold for the last two months. The land is currently partly owned by WNWHL and part by the Council's Parks and Leisure Dept and we need authorisation from both to proceed with the project. Initial meetings had indicated their support but following representations from Adel Crag Association to WNWHL we have had a number of other meetings to try to resolve the issues they have raised. |

We have now secured permission from the landowners to progress the scheme. Funding has been obtained for the initial design study which is now underway. 'Groundwork Leeds' have been engaged to prepare their thoughts on initial designs which may now also incorporate additional facilities within the woods adjacent to the site. A volunteer project team has been formed and will be meeting soon to discuss these initial proposals. Groundwork Leeds works with all parts of the community to improve the environment. We build partnerships across six Groundwork themes: Land, Communities, Youth, Employment, Education and Business. See our website here. |

Other residents say they have been trying for nearly 30 years to build a children’s play area in Adel. In the April edition of ‘Adel Life’ we invited all residents of Adel to a briefing on this potential project. Having considered the merits of several potential sites it was suggested that the most appropriate would be a small piece of land on Sir George Martin’s Drive opposite Adel Wood Stores and next to the bus turning circle. |
